www.littleredhenpromotions.com

Jan Bell founded Little Red Hen Music in 1999 as a member organization of the Folk Alliance.

Since then Jan has spearheaded over a thousand live music events in New York City, mostly between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges in DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass). Once an affordable area for artists of all kinds to live and work, it is now an internationally renowned arts neighborhood. Jan continues to present and promote live music events year round, specializing in 'Secret Shows' across the river with special guests on tour in NYC to play legendary Manhattan venues.

Pioneer venue 'Superfine' cited Little Red Hen Music when they won NYC Mayor Bloomberg's coveted Award for 'Women in Business'. As the booking agent at popular fringe venues Lillies, Union Pool, and the DUMBO Arts Festival, Jan is credited with helping launch the careers of The Be Good Tanyas, The Wiyos, and the Luminescent Orchestrii, among others.

Twenty plus years as a Production Manager include world class artists Ray Charles, Emmylou Harris, Merle Haggard, Alison Krauss, Gatemouth Brown, Bela Fleck, Ralph Stanley, to name a few. Jan also served as Technical Director at Performance Space 122. La Mama, The Charles Ludlam Theater, and the radical Judson Memorial Church in the West Village, NYC for twenty years.

In 2009 Jan was inducted into the Brooklyn Country Music Hall of Fame for 'Unending Support of Country Music in New York City'. Matt Winters of WKCR-FM also received the award for presenting his Sunday morning Moonshine Radio Show for 11 years.

A multi-award winning singer and songwriter, Jan brings her experience as a touring artist to the forefront of her publicity campaigns. Having made her home in New Orleans, The Ozarks, and the South West, Jan Bell is a touch stone in NYC for hard working, awe inspiring bands she has met along the way. Staying true to her dream of building a vibrant music community, she continues to steadfastly present and promote international touring artists at independently owned and operated venues in Brooklyn, NYC.

www.littleredhenpromotions.com

They were soon on the road, spending Winter playing the streets of New Orleans. Over the years, they came home to Eureka, opening for Emmylou Harris, Odetta, and playing the long running Ozark Folk Festival. As the rhythm section for their New Orleans pal, Opal Fly, they also opened for Ray Charles.
A few years later, they returned to Jan's adopted hometown of New York City - where they met up with fiddle player Katy Cox. Despite being based in three different states,(AR, NY, TX) the three had a busy few years. In 2009, they played Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, and folk festivals in the UK. They also went back to where it all began, Eureka Springs to headline their own show at The AUD. Thousands of miles and hundreds of shows and adventures later, Jan, Melissa and Katy are staying closer to hometown projects. Jan continues to lead the band back in Brooklyn, playing with musicians who were part of The Maybelles along the way.

Upcoming Events!

Tuesday
March 16th
at Union Hall
8:30 pm

The Brooklyn Songwriter's Exchange, with special guest host, Jan Bell

Featuring
Annie Keating
Dave Murphy

No cover charge!

Union Hall
702 Union Street
Brooklyn, New York 11215
718-638-4400

Thursday
March 18th
at the Rodeo Bar
at 10 PM

The All new old-time
The Maybelles
(Jan Bell, Hilary Hawke, Philippa Thompson and special guest Megan Palmer)

Rodeo Bar
375 3rd Avenue
New York, New York 10016

Friday March 19th
at the Jalopy Theatre
at 8 PM

Special Guest Spot
with M.
